Skylar Grey meant to put Em on “Last One Standing” from the very beginning. But it was not easy to get him.

The singer/songwriter wrote the theme song for “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” and brought Polo G, Mozzy and Eminem to rap their verses. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, sealing its success. Now, Skylar explained in her interview with Hip Hop Nation how all pieces of this puzzle came together:

The movie wanted the song, and so we were like, “Okay, who should we put on this?” Polo G is super killing it right now. And Mozzy, I love his vibe, I love his delivery. And then I, from day one, was like, “We should get Em on this ‘cause he did the first “Venom” single for the first movie. So I was like, “That’d be super cool to have him on it too”. And pretty much last minute, he decided to get on it. Like, right up against the deadline. It was crazy. It was so stressful.

Remember Skylar’s post about a hellish month and how it was finally getting to the resolution? That’s what it was about.
