“Happy Gilmore 2” has smashed Netflix viewership records for the US film debut, and there is probably some star power in its cameos.

The movie has become the biggest US film launch in Netflix history with 46.7 million views in just three days, Variety reports. The long-awaited sequel, released on July 25, shot to No. 1 on Netflix’s English-language film chart and gave fans more than one surprise, including a comedy cameo from Eminem.

Nearly 30 years after the 1996 original, Adam Sandler returns as Happy, now retired and struggling, until he is pulled back into golf to pay for his daughter’s ballet school in Paris. Alongside Sandler are returning stars like Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, plus new faces like Benny Safdie, Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, and Guy Fieri.

The most talked-about appearance in the film is that of Eminem, who plays the son of a notorious heckler from the first part. His one-minute cameo brings full-circle chaos and laughs, standing out as one of the film’s biggest fan-service moments.

The sequel’s success has also revived interest in the original “Happy Gilmore”, which hit No. 3 globally with over 11 million views last week. Critics have called the new film “a happy orgy of raucous fan-service nostalgia”, and clearly, that’s what fans wanted.
