The first ever rap song to win an Oscar, “Lose Yourself” was also the first to win Eminem his first Billboard Hot 100 No.1. The song has stayed atop the chart for 12 consecutive weeks and eventually reached the RIAA Diamond status in the US.

Since then, the song has not just become an international anthem of resilience but also inspired other musicians with over 100 official covers and interpolations.

Strictly speaking, Barak Obama’s rendition cannot qualify as a cover but still, his interpretation has a unique power of conviction.
