The 2025 MTV VMAs will see LL COOL J in double duty, hosting the show and hoping to take home an award alongside Eminem.
LL COOL J is taking the mic as host of the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, airing Sunday, September 7, on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+. But steering the show will be just part of his involvement in this year’s ceremony, as he is also in the race for the Best Hip Hop video thanks to “Murdergram Deux”, his fiery collab with Eminem.
The pair are up against Doechii, Drake, GloRilla, Kendrick Lamar, and Travis Scott. Eminem also has another shot at a Moon Person with “Somebody Save Me” feat. Jelly Roll, which is nominated for Video for Good. Fans can vote through September 5 at vote.mtv.com.
And maybe the night will bring more than awards, with LL hosting and Em nominated, a surprise performance is not off the table. Last year, Eminem kicked off the VMAs with “Houdini” and a crew of Slim Shady doubles, echoing his unforgettable 2000 moment with “The Real Slim Shady”. And also took home two MTV Astronauts for Best Hip Hop and Best Visual Effects.
