Eminem shouts out to Snoop Dogg on a new verse recorded for “Killer (Remix)”.
After months of the visible tension between Snoop and Marshall, verbal exchanges of mild unpleasantries, harsh words that Em put on “Zeus” off M2BMB, there is closure.
Yes, it is true that Snoop recently said, more than once, that there were no hard feelings between the two superstars, but it was important to hear it from Em. And Marshall put beef to rest in no uncertain words on his most recent record:
Just called Snoop and I talked to him, we all cool
Dre, me and the Dogg good, Doc, we got you
Interestingly, these lines also reference Dr. Dre, who has played a crucial role in the life and career of both the West Coast legend and the Detroit prodigy. But what if there is something more to it than just acknowledging the past?
Recently, the Beats & Rhymes narrative resurfaced. Dr. Dre planned Beats & Rhymes back in 2015 as a tour that would bring together him, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem. But a month ago, photos and posts captioned “Beats & Rhymes” popped up on social media accounts of KXNG Crooked, who has a studio session with Dre not long before that, and Aftermath producer FredWreck. Their involvement made fans thinking that now Beats & Rhymes might have transformed into a recording project. There is no clarity on this matter, but it seems that in whatever form, it is going to be a collaborative project. And Eminem and Snoop Dogg, most probably are involved.
So for Eminem to shout out Snoop on wax was important not that much because of the worried fans but perhaps, that he wanted to demonstrate to Dre that Snoop and he are on good terms and are ready to work together on Dre’s project. They’ve got him.
