Two decades after its release, “Welcome 2 Detroit” has officially hit a milestone with its first-ever RIAA plaque.
Released on November 8, 2005, via Motown/Universal Music Group, the single served as the lead track from Trick Trick’s debut solo studio album “The People vs”. Written by Trick Trick, Eminem, and Luis Resto, the record was put together across three Detroit studios: Eminem’s home setup, 54 Sound, and the Batcave. Production came from Eminem with additional work by Resto.
While the track only reached No.100 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in the day, it has gone on to earn lasting recognition in hip hop culture. Nearly 20 years later, “Welcome 2 Detroit” has received its first certification, marking an important milestone for both Trick Trick and Eminem.
