Eminem has officially joined forces with the Detroit Tigers for the reveal of their brand new City Connect jerseys.
The team will debut the uniforms Friday night for the game against the Houston Astros and will wear them again Saturday. The Tigers plan to wear them every Friday at home games during the season.
The Detroit News quotes the official statement from Ryan Gustafson, President and CEO of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment: “We are excited to introduce the Tigers City Connect uniforms and celebrate the past, present, and future of the Motor City. There are unique features on the uniforms, caps, and batting helmets we feel Tigers fans and Detroiters will appreciate. Above all, the uniforms are symbolic of the revitalization and exciting future ahead for the Tigers and our great city”.
With the introduction of the City Connect uniforms, the Tigers are making a bold departure from their long-standing tradition of almost exclusively wearing white uniforms for their home games, even during their annual Detroit Stars and Fiesta Tigres tribute uniforms.
Another unusual feature of this year’s rollout is Eminem’s active participation. The Internet is full of Marshall’s photos in a new uniform, and a short video spreads like fire.
