50 Cent has written multiple hits for artists you would not even suspect using ghosts. But he did not use one for himself, despite whatever The Game is trying to claim.
During Fifty’s brilliant interview at the Breakfast Club, hosts tried to steer the conversation to discuss The Game relatively early, reminding Fif about a recently surfaced reference tape he recorded for The Game. 50 Cent wanted to move the discussion away from this topic and talked about other artists who used his writing skills and didn’t try to claim otherwise: LL Cool J, NEXT, Puff Daddy, and more. They didn’t deny Fifty writing credits, and he has plaques to show.
But The Game, who famously was given Fif’s assistance by Dr. Dre, has always denied his involvement and recently even implied that he wrote one of the hits from “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”. His manager Wack 100 suggested that much when talking about the “What Up Gangsta” chorus. He said on the records, “Who you think wrote that? I’mma leave it alone… Bro just don’t be beating his chest”.
Fifty can only laugh at that:
They say all kinds of stuff about it. He said he wrote “What Up Gangsta”. I’m like, come on, bro, he wasn’t even around when we did that. That was before he even came into the picture… That’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”, we didn’t even know who he was until after. There’s a point of desperation where you’ll say anything.
The Game’s desperation is evident when you see the tracklist of his recent album, the massive 30-song record with a long list of features. And a 10-minute long Eminem diss track, which he promoted relentlessly for months. Didn’t help, though. His entire album got fewer streams on an opening day than Fifty’s joint with Em released on Marshall’s compilation Eminem – “Curtain Call 2” Out Now“Curtain Call 2”.
