Super Bowl match organisers could only fill half the stadium due to coronavirus restrictions, so they had to get inventive.
30,000 seats at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida were filled with cardboard cutouts of fans favourites: Eminem, Billie Eilish, Drake, politicians, community leaders or anyone who can have pay for a cutout installed.
“Sixty-five thousand seats will have about twenty-five thousand people in here, about thirty thousand fan cutouts honouring some incredible people, some veterans and military personnel, health care workers as well, cancer survivors, youth and high school football players. So it’ll actually look full when you turn on the TV”, Peter O’Reilly, an NFL executive vice president said to CNN.
This is how Eminem’s picture from a recent photoshoot ended up one row closer to the field than a familiar site of Bernie Sanders in his cosy mittens.
