The February of 2023 gave Skylar Grey the unique and long-awaited experience of receiving an RIAA certification as a primary artist on a song.

Skylar’s song for the Venom franchise, “Last One Standing” feat. Eminem, Polo G & Mozzy, was recently certified Gold in the US. For Skylar, who is now qualified as an independent artist, it is a big step forward. Of course, she has her writing credits on one of the biggest hits of the century so far, “Love the Way You Lie”, and her fair share of all accolades that come along with that. She rightfully has her plaques for all collaborations with Em and some other artists. But this one is special.

Skylar posted a stream of tweets to mark this milestone and to express gratitude to the many people who help her achieve it:

This is a first for me! Through all my years in this game and all the gold and platinum records I’ve been a part of, this is the first time MY NAME’S AT THE TOP. And did this shit as an INDIE artist! Thank you to @Polo_Capalot @MozzyThaMotove @Eminem #DanielMajic #JimLavigne @DJFrankE for making this jam with me… #OllySheppard @ArtistPG #MikeCaren for presenting the opportunity, #SpringTune @SonyPictures #TomHardy for choosing this song for
@VenomMovie and the FANS for streaming sharing downloading listening!!!!! Could not have achieved this without each and every one of you…. So grateful so blessed 🙏🏻🖤 #freemozzy
