New Eminem songs are full of references to modern culture, but some of his targets are very familiar to his faithful audience.

For instance, in the middle of “These Demons”, that is full of reflections on how media and the audience try to bend an artist to their expectations, there is a powerful undercut aimed at the familiar character.

I’ve got a question – what rhymes with pariah?

This line was bracketed by silence and delivered with such clarity that nobody would be able to miss it. And Eminem, being the wordsmith that he is, offers the unmistakeable rhyme for everybody to identify his target correctly.

Then Em continues:

You just bit into the lit end of the wick
Shit, I meant, shit end of the stick
I’m addicted to friction and mischief
It’s like your bitch’s midriff, shit gets my dick stiff as a stickshift
Dick as in Cheney, trip as in sailing
They bring my name up just to get ratings

Was he annoyed by the marketing strategy that Mariah’s team had chosen to promote her book? The strategy that tried to undermine him and depict him as somebody who might be afraid of some revelations from her. If that’s the case that he has got his revenge now. Should we expect a new spiral of Nick Cannon’s rage now?
