Five years ago, Eminem dropped “Music to Be Murdered By”, an album that blended masterful lyricism with Hitchcock-inspired intrigue — and smashed records along the way.

Marshall surprised everyone by dropping “Music to Be Murdered By” without any warning. The album, inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s 1958 project of the same name, combined killer beats, sharp lyrics, and dark themes that only Eminem could pull off.

The record was not just another release — it was a statement. With production from Eminem himself and Dr. Dre (making a big return since “Recovery”), it delivered everything fans love: rapid-fire bars, creative storytelling, and genre-bending sounds.

When it dropped on January 17, 2020, “Music to Be Murdered By” shot straight to No.1 on the Billboard 200. It sold 279,000 units in its first week, making Eminem the first artist in US history to hit No.1 with ten albums in a row. The album topped the charts in 16 countries and broke records in the UK, where Eminem also became the first artist to release 10 consecutive No.1 projects.

The album gave fans unforgettable moments, like the Juice WRLD collaboration “Godzilla”, where Eminem smashed his own world record for fastest rap verse. Tracks like “Darkness” went deep, showing a more serious side of Slim Shady while still showcasing his unmatched lyricism.

Five years later, “Music to Be Murdered By” is still one of my fan favourites. It has become Em’s fourth most streamed album on Spotify and pulls over 1.3 million plays daily. Whether it is the Hitchcock-inspired vibes, the insane rap skills, or the chart-topping success, it is an album that stands out as one of Eminem’s best.
