Lil Wayne asked Marshall about his triumphant performance at the Oscars this year and how it all came together.
Eminem recalled how hopeless things looked 17 years ago and how he prioritised his family over attending a ceremony. However, he shifted to discussing that mic pack malfunction that only a few noticed during his performance and that made him really frustrated when he was telling about it during his interview with Mike Tyson:
They had approached Paul and asked him if we’d be interested in doing it. I never got a chance back when I had won. I didn’t think that it was even possible for me to win so I didn’t go or anything like that. I had some father duties that I had to do and the timing was really bad too. But I also honestly I didn’t think I would win. It was cool, man, except, you know… I told the story to Tyson a little while back, but when I went out there the pack for your earphones, I don’t know if they clip it to your back or whatever, well, mine fell out. And it was swinging and it just threw me off my whole shit. And then when I watched it back there was only a couple of shots where you could actually see it and I probably made it a bigger deal than what it was. When you said how you feel, like you hear something that you do and then if you step away from it you might hear it like, “Oh shit, I should’ve said it like this”. I do that shit all the time and I swear to god, as long as I’ve been doing this I’m still learning shit.
