Eminem’s latest album “Music To Be Murdered” got snubbed but Marshall cannot care less, spreads love for his friends who received the Academy’s recognition.
This list of Grammy nominations is perplexing. The amount of scandalous snubs and deliberate ignorance that the Academy put out for the world to see is enough to shake even a strong believer in the honesty of this competition.
Eminem, though, is not one of these believers, he exposed Grammy years ago and spoke loudly about his attitude more than once. However popular, successful or musically immaculate Em’s album could ever be – there was no chance for it to be nominated for Grammy.
However, two of Eminem’s friends and collaborators received a nod from the Academy. Royce da 5’9” was nominated for the Best Rap Album for his self-produced “The Allegory”. The Alchemist, who put out several impressive records this year, got nominated in the same category for his collaboration with Freddie Gibbs “Alfredo”.
In the mainstream industry, even a nomination opens many new doors and new opportunities. For both Royce and The Alchemist, this type of recognition can be helpful and is certainly something to celebrate.
Marshall did just that by taking to Twitter and sharing his joy about the success of his cohort:
So happy for @Royceda59 and @Alchemist on their Grammy rap album of the year noms! Seems like @RecordingAcad might be starting to get it right.
