“Yukon” just climbed to No.1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart, and Eminem gets a quiet writing credit thanks to a familiar simile.
Justin Bieber’s “Yukon” has made a strong chart debut, landing at No.17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No.3 among the biggest US Spotify debuts over the debut weekend. The track has now powered up the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart, where it claims the top spot – marking Bieber’s third career No.1 on that ranking.
When Bieber dropped his new album “Swag”, “Daisies” was initially pushed as the lead single, grabbing attention on pop formats. Meanwhile, “Yukon” was steered toward the R&B and rhythmic audience, giving it room to find momentum of its own. Less than a month later, it has crowned a chart leader.
Eminem does not appear on the track, but he does get a writer’s credit. In the first verse, Bieber raps, “I can help you get a move on, like U-Haul” – a simile that echoes a line Em used on 2010’s “Untitled” and again in 2020’s “She Loves Me”. It is a subtle nod, but it means Eminem is now part of another No.1, even if it won’t show up on his official tally.
For Bieber, “Yukon” marks his third No.1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart. Eminem has five of those as a lead artist, starting with 2013’s “Berzerk” and “Rap God”, followed by “The Monster” with Rihanna, which spent a week at the top in 2014, then “Lucky You”, and most recently “Houdini”. Now, “Yukon” gives him another No.1 as a writer – a credit that won’t appear on his official chart stats, but one fans will certainly recognise.
