Griselda boys have been busy giving interviews and recording podcasts recently. Some things about them we already know well, some things we still discover. Like how they got Fif’s feature on their Shady Records debut “WWCD”. Sure, because of Eminem, but how? Conway the Machine answered this question at Shady45.
It appeared that initially, Conway planned “City On The Map” for his solo album and he just enthusiastically ran the idea of joint with 50 by Eminem and Paul Rosenberg:
I went to Detroit and I was sitting in the studio with Eminem and Paul. We were listening to it, just hype, you know? I was like I need 50 on that! Call 50! 50 got on that. We all thought it made sense for that to be on What Would Chinegun Do. It fit the rest of the album so perfect. That grimy, street, that feel. When we got the joint back and I heard it, I’m like yeah nah, 50 in his bag. Shout out to 50 for even doing that cause he ain’t have to do it. He got a whole bunch of other shit going on. I ain’t really hear him working with too many artists out there… That shit was big for us, just to have him getting on it and then bodying it.
Westside Gunn, however, is not the one to undermine their own achievements. He knows well, and it is difficult to disagree with him, that Griselda sets the bar high and nobody can slack on their records:
If you don’t bring your A-Game, you gonna look real bad. We did songs with a lot of legends. We bring the best out of everybody. If you not coming with it, if you on a song with Benny, you know how bad you going to sound? You don’t want them problems.
