Eminem’s “Houdini” passed “Sing For The Moment” on Spotify, as it elbows past Eminem classics into the his Top 20.
It is a big move for a relatively new song, especially when the ones left behind include staples like “The Way I Am”, “Cleanin’ Out My Closet”, and the MGK takedown “Killshot”.
“Houdini” currently sits at over 665 million streams, gaining about half a million more every single day. That pace puts it 2-3 times ahead of its closest neighbours in the lower half of the Top 20, so yes, it is climbing, and fast. At this rate, it will not remain at No. 20 for long.
And over on YouTube, the “Houdini” video is also gaining traction: recently, it entered Em’s Top 30 most viewed clips.
The Slim Shady energy is fuelling the movement. It is chaotic, funny, sharp-edged, and full of references that keep fans coming back for another listen. “Houdini” sounds like a collab between present-day Eminem and the troublemaker he introduced in 1999. And the world is still here for it.
