Cordae’s verse we hear on Eminem’s “Killer (Remix)” is not what he originally sent to Marshall.
We know that Marshall treats every feature like it’s his last, he attacks it mercilessly and really gives it his all. Very few artists can even claim that they stood their ground on a joint with Em. Cordae, however, was not intimidated when hopping on a track with Eminem. And that became a problem, Cordae explained to Bootleg Kev:
I did my first verse for “Killer (Remix)” and sent it over to Em. It was more like the Andre 3000, E-40 type of flow. And then Eminem called. He was like, “Yo, I wanted you to be a little more lyrical. Do some rap rap shit on it. I’m like, alright, cool, whatever. So he had me re-do my verse. You know, this song is not a rap rap record, it’s more like a vibe sort of thing. That’s why I gave that. But he was like, “I want you to attack it”, and I’m like, alright, cool, let’s try that. I haven’t been asked that before, but I ask people to re-do their verses all the time for my albums. Not all the time, but I will, in a heartbeat.
He did not ask to re-do anything for his most recent album “From a Bird’s Eye View” and was happy with what Eminem sent him for “Parables (Remix)”, which he chose for Marshall because he felt like it was perfect for Em’s voice.
