We are not through the first half of this year yet and statistics reports from May already look like something we remember only vaguely. With a comfortably constant fixture on it – Eminem.
The list of the most popular artists on Genius this May has changed drastically with new names stomping up the chart. The first place is still held by Drake though, who solidified his TikTok driven April success with the release of “Dark Lane Demo Tapes” mixtape that brought over 3.8 million views to his catalogue.
The second place is occupied by 6ix9ine who jumped into the limelight with the clout that drew over 2.3 million views to his lyrics. Doja Cat has also made it to the Top 5, not without help from Nicki Minaj, who is featured on her recent No.1 hit “Say So”.
With over 1.8 million views Eminem remains on the third place. The number of monthly views for Eminem’s catalogue has not changed that significantly, which is understandable as Marshall did not do anything to attract unexpected attention. He did not release new music or new videos, he did not get involved in any scandals or controversy. He just has that impressive amount of songs that people keep listening to and keep thinking about.
