His bars hit hard, his flow is sharp, and on this track, the Detroit rapper-slash-doctor proves he can stand tall next to a legend.

Detroit-born rapper and practicing physician Lazarus dropped what might be the biggest track of his career. His new single, “Not To Be Defined”, is a heavyweight collaboration with none other than Rakim and is produced by Aftermath’s own Dem Jointz.

The track premiered yesterday, on Lazarus’s birthday, on Eminem’s Shade45 and is now available on all streaming platforms.

Rakim’s reputation for lyrical mastery speaks for itself, but Lazarus holds his own with confidence and precision. His performance is sharp and thoughtful, gliding over the stripped-back beat with meaning-packed bars and clever wordplay.

A stellar effort all around, and a birthday gift Lazarus will not forget.
