A new wave group from the UK suddenly makes unbelievable numbers on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot.
British pop-rockers surely have a dedicated following, but nobody expected that from a band that was not everybody’s favourite among Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees at the start of the vote. And then they suddenly jolted far ahead, leaving behind American sweetheart Dolly Parton and former leader Pat Betanar.
The only artist whose voting numbers are comparable to Duran Duran is Eminem, quite literally one of the world’s most successful and popular artists. He has been for over 20 years, and he still is now. However, starting last week, after days going neck to neck with the Brits, even Marshall began pulling back.
Future Rock Legends, a Twitter account closely following and analysing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame numbers, published a chart that shows daily vote percentages for all nominees. The gap between two leaders and everyone else is unbelievable. What is even more impressive is how unrelenting is the trend that shows growing voting for Duran Duran.
There were reports about BTS and Taylor Swift fans supporting Duranies and voting for them. Somebody even discovered that Duranies might use address extensions for multiple votes.
However, the truth is that Eminem doesn’t even need his fans to learn tricks and cheats. He has over 52 million followers on Spotify, 35 million on Instagram, 51 million on YouTube. His fans just have to vote, honestly but daily. And nobody will be able to resist these numbers.
At the moment, Marshall is 16,000 votes behind Duran Duran. And this gap is growing. Only you can stop this. Go to vote.rockhall.com to cast your ballot right now.
