Analysing the quality of life shows of artists who started their career after 1992, a columnist declares Eminem “the biggest rock star of the twenty-first century”.

Admittedly, the list of 15 life acts is subjective and based on the author’s personal experience. Still, he has enough experience to compare practically all influential artists who hit the stage over these 30 years. The ranking includes stylistically different performers from Jay-Z to The National to Rage Against The Machine to Florence + The Machine and more. However, only four artists the journalist put into Tier 1: John Mayer, Eminem, Beyonce and Foo Fighters.

Introducing Eminem, Forbes Senior Contributor Steve Baltin wrote:

Eminem

If every great performer has that one trait that separates them from their peers, Eminem’s is also easily spotted. It was on display at the Super Bowl halftime show. And it can be found in the opening lyrics to the Oscar-winning “Lose Yourself. “Look, if you had one shot or one opportunity/To seize everything you ever wanted in one moment/Would you capture it or just let it slip?” What is amazing about Eminem is that despite being arguably the biggest rock star of the twenty-first century he still approaches every single show as if he is an unproven artist fighting for his first contract. His intensity and ferocity on stage are unmatched, making every show absolutely riveting.

No arguments here. And while we all wait for Eminem to announce a new tour, you can revise some of his memorable performances and read show reports on our website.
