A UK TV personality has released a diss track targeting Eminem, and yes, he really went there with a Hailie bar.
A transatlantic rap war has kicked off, and it is not Skepta or Dave leading the charge against Eminem, but Big Zuu, the UK TV presenter best known for hosting Junior MasterChef and Big Eats.
Real name Zuhair Hassan, Zuu has released a diss track called “Bun Em”, directly aimed at Eminem. Using the instrumental from Em’s 2004 single “Just Lose It”, Zuu throws barbs at the Rap God, calling him a “little hillbilly” and repeatedly referencing his daughter, Hailie Jade — a move that had some careers driven into the ground. Just ask Ja Rule or MGK.
It all started when grime legend Skepta proposed a UK vs US rap clash to “settle the debate once and for all”. He matched himself with A$AP Rocky, Chip with Kendrick Lamar, and suggested Ghetts take on Eminem. Not many people from both sides have responded. Skepta and Joyner Lucas exchanged disses, and that was the length of it, until recently.
While Ghetts was not in a hurry to wage war against Eminem, Big Zuu decided to insert himself into the moment and volunteered for the Slim Shady assignment, dropping Bun Em on July 16. The track opens with a swipe at US rap as a whole (“Come here, USA, sit on my lap”) and quickly escalates into shots at Eminem’s parenting, race, and lyrical style.
“I’m overweight, me versus Slim is a mismatch”, Zuu raps. “Is your little Stans gettin’ upset on the TikTok?”
He also takes aim at Hailie with a gross punchline that does not need repeating, and ends the track with the statement:
“You little penis, suck your mum if you hear this… and don’t sue me, ’cause, obviously, this beat, I couldn’t clear this”.
Online reactions from local fans have ranged from cringes to chuckles. One commenter wrote, “Saying Hailie’s name to get Em to respond may be the most overused tactic in rap history”, while another added: “I was really hoping someone else would represent our scene, not Big fucking Zuu”.
Anyway, if you are not a fan of UK food shows, you learned a new name today. That was exactly what the British comedian who declared himself a “grime MC” hoped for. But we all know, if Eminem hears that Big Zuu dissed him, the only thing he’ll probably say is: “Who??”
