The young rapper has learned a lot from Eminem, and he assures you that there is not a good rapper around who did not study Eminem’s flow.

Recently, Cordae talked about his new album “From a Birds Eye View” on Hot97, and the topic of working with Eminem came up. It appears that Marshall reached out to Cordae to invite him to record a verse for “Killer (Remix)”. Cordae, who had already seen Em’s interview with KXNG Crooked and knew that Eminem held a very high opinion about him, was ready to use the opportunity to get Rap God on his track. There was no resistance from Em whatsoever, he was eager to support young talent. That’s how Eminem’s feature on “Parables (Remix)” came to existence, explains Cordae:

I saw [Eminem] when he did an interview, and he was like, “Yo, I really rock with Cordae, he is one of my favourite new artists”. He gave me a lot of love, and the fact that he knows who I am and likes the music I put out, that was already enough for me. He reached out to put me on the “Killer” remix, and I was like, “Yo, I am gonna send you something as well”. We got to have a phone conversation, we talked for an hour and a half, honestly! It was a really dope conversation. We were just talking about hip hop and everything. It was a great conversation. We did not talk about music until the very end, and he was like, “Yo, whatever you need from me, I got you. You got some music, we definitely gotta get in some work”. So it was very dope.

When he put it out there — hell yeah, I’m gonna take it! Eminem is like the biggest, in terms of pure sales and success, he is the biggest rap artist of all time, straight up. And even more than sales and success commercially and all these other things, he is one of my early influences in music. Those first two albums, man! Every artist that raps with some dexterity or lyricism takes notes from those first two albums, I guarantee. So it’s definitely a blessing to have him on there for sure. Matter of fact, I just texted him. I sent him a voicemail like, “I appreciate you, bro”. Not often, I’m never going to cap to y’all, I’m not going to over-exaggerate the relationship, but I did send him a voice note, just showing my appreciation.
