The founder of iconic Public Enemy and an active member of Prophets of Rage, legendary rapper Chuck D recalls touring with Eminem during his “Revival” era.

Chuck D sat down with Vlad TV for a lengthy interview and in a segment about how different genres and technological advances change hip hop scene, he mentioned the summer of 2018, when Prophets of Rage opened two European shows for Eminem as a support act.

A hip hop icon holds fond memories about the number of people that came to an Italian show:

We played with Eminem in Milan in front of 900 000 people. Yeah, 900 000, bro, last summer.

Vlad sounded incredulous when double-checked this number with Chuck D just to receive the confirmation. Clearly, even with gigantic screens that Chuck D credits for the ever-growing number of concert goers, it seems like this number is far beyond the capacity of Area Expo – Experience in Milano where the show took place.

Eminem indeed holds a record for the highest-grossing and the most attended solo concert by a hip hop artist in history. Marshall’s sold-out show at Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2019 brought 80,708 Eminem fans to the stadium. It is nowhere near Chuck’s claim. The number of over 80,000 fans at a hip hop show is incredible in itself and does not need to be inflated.
