Most recent events that brought media attention to Lil Pump also brought harm to him, Adam22 thinks.
The creator and the host of hip hop podcast “No Jumper” discussed the matter on VladTV recently and he is the one who has been on good terms with the Florida rapper. So his assessment is done from the position of empathy, not animosity. And still, when he saw Lil Pump taking the stage next to Trump, his first thought was:
This is a bad idea. Picture me looking at my phone, and just jaw dropped. And the fact that he called him Little Pimp. It was already crazy enough but the fact that he called him Little Pimp just blew my fucking brain into a million pieces. Yeah, I didn’t think that was a great idea. I don’t think long term it was a good career move.
After reflecting on how “hot” Lil Pump used to be, Adam22 made a verdict:
It doesn’t feel like he is necessarily huge right now. I wonder, to what extent the people would be open to a comeback. It kind of feels like the Eminem thing and the Trump thing, to whatever extent people we are going to be open to hearing him again, it kind of feels like a lot of that might have closed the door for people’s willingness to fuck with him. Not artists necessarily, but the fans.
The fans, meanwhile, are growing older and might just not be interested in the type of stories Lil Pump is able to tell his audience, Adam22 continues:
The problem is, he is kind of running through a lot of same stuff that he already got popping off. Saying “Fuck Eminem” right now is almost exactly like saying “Fuck J. Cole” at that time back then. You pick an elite rapper who is beloved and say “Fuck them”. That will get you viral for a little bit, but where do you go from there? So I did not love seeing that. It was kind of a bummer. I feel like there are people around him who are big Trump supporters. I know for a fact that there’s at least a couple of people who are older that are associated with him on his team or whatever, who are very big MAGA people behind the scenes. I think that’s probably part of what led him to think that that would go over better than it did.
