Eminem is teaming up with his hometown team, the Detroit Lions, for a new multi-year partnership. The team announced that Marshall and his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, will executive produce the Lions’ Thanksgiving Halftime Shows through 2027.

Together, they will help book artists and shape one of the most-watched annual events in American sports. The Thanksgiving game is a huge part of Detroit’s identity, and now, it is getting an even stronger local connection.

“It’s an honour for us to team up with the Lions and be a part of the greatest tradition in Detroit sports”, Rosenberg said. “We look forward to putting together unforgettable shows featuring world-class artists for the fans at Ford Field and the tens of millions watching around the country”.

Keeping Detroit’s Spirit Alive

The Detroit Lions have hosted Thanksgiving Day games since 1934, making the tradition one of the oldest in the NFL. Every year, the halftime show draws millions of viewers nationwide. This year, the Lions will face off against the Green Bay Packers in the 1 pm game on Fox.

The collaboration marks a full-circle moment for Eminem, a lifelong Detroit native and Lions fan. After performing at the 2021 Super Bowl Halftime Show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige, Eminem is now stepping behind the scenes to help shape the next era of live NFL entertainment.

Detroit Lions President and CEO Rod Wood said, “We’re thrilled to be working with Marshall and Paul, who are two of the most accomplished and respected names in the music industry. Their reputation in the business will attract top-tier talent and help us solidify this annual performance as one of the most anticipated cultural moments on the NFL calendar”.

A New Era for NFL Halftime Shows

Since 2019, Jay-Z and Roc Nation have been producing the Super Bowl Halftime Shows, bringing stars like Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Bad Bunny to the stage. Now, with Eminem leading the Detroit Lions’ halftime tradition, fans can expect the same level of creativity, energy, and star power but with a Detroit twist.

For the next three years, Ford Field will host performances that blend football, music, and Detroit pride. And with Eminem in charge, these shows will be nothing short of groundbreaking.

The only thing the fans would like to see more than Eminem producing this show is Eminem actually performing there. However, this is unlikely, as Marshall finds live performances, especially on television, stressful. In a 2022 interview with SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning, he said:

“I’mma tell you, it’s fucking nerve-wracking. It’s fucking nerve-wracking. This to me… there’s nothing more final than live TV. So, if you fuck up, your fuck up is there forever”.
