A new Conway’s album, “La Maquina”, once again reminded everyone about the scale of his talent. And made people wonder about his long0anticipated official solo debut on a major label.
“La Maquina” is released on Conway’s own label DrumWork Music Group. Conway mentioned earlier in one of his interviews that it was important for him to keep his creative freedom even on the Shady Records roster. The signature Griselda sound leans heavily on dark samples that would be almost impossible to clear up for an official release. So Paul Rosenberg just kept business separate, getting busy with Conway’s major label release “God Don’t Make Mistakes”, while the unstoppable Griselda MC kept dropping independent side-projects.
Meanwhile, there were more and more independent projects and no Shady records album in sight. Considering that the first time Conway said “bouta drop my debut album on shady” in January 2019, it’s been a long wait. Last July, Conway stated that “God Don’t Make Mistakes” was finalised. He clearly expected it to be released soon.
His fans have been waiting for years now, and the question some asked after yet another independent release was valid. When will we hear the Shady Records solo debut?
However, Conway the Machine reveals that he did his part of the job, and the ball is on the label’s side:

Releasing a legally clean and yet artistically smashing record might be a lot of work, but hopefully, it can be done already.
