The original soundtrack for the legendary hip hop movie “8 Mile” hit a new streaming milestone.

It is fair to notice that Marshall’s universally appraised, Oscar-winning hit “Lose Yourself” pulled the weight here, being responsible for over 2 billion streams out of 2.3 billion. Not a single other track on the compilation has reached the 100 million mark. Meanwhile, “8 Mile: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture” works magic both as a time capsule and as a representation of a hip hop scene of the time.

The album made its entrance at the top spot on the Billboard 200, with an impressive sales figure exceeding 700,000 copies in the inaugural week. Following this strong start, it continued to perform well by selling 510,000 copies in the second week. Over time, it solidified its position as the fifth best-selling album in the United States for the year 2002, boasting a total of 3.4 million copies sold. Certified 6x Platinum in the US in 2022, it is estimated to sell over 10 million album copies internationally by now.
