Eminem’s rally appearance with Barack Obama in Detroit has drawn praise from hockey Hall of Famer Dominik Hasek.

The former NHL goalie thanked Eminem on social media for “supporting democracy” and standing up for the values Hasek holds dear.

Eminem used his time at the rally to stress the importance of voting, urging Detroiters to make their voices heard. “Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever. And I think it’s important to use your voice. So, I’m encouraging everyone to go out and vote, please”, he said.

Hasek, who spent part of his celebrated hockey career in Detroit with the Red Wings, highlighted Em’s message. He wrote:

Thank you Eminem for supporting democracy against dictatorship, evil and endless lies. In the city where I spent a beautiful part of my hockey career 😊

Known as “The Dominator” for his unmatched shot-blocking skills, Hasek played in the NHL from 1990 to 2008, leading the league in save percentage for six straight seasons and winning two Stanley Cups with the Red Wings.

It seems that Eminem’s Detroit roots and his vocal support for voting resonate with fans and public figures alike, underscoring the power of music and influence in civic engagement.
