Eminem has just introduced “Coup De Grace”, a DJ mix curated by Scram Jones, that brings together Eminem classics and rare tracks.
The mix includes an hour of some of Eminem’s well-known tracks, alongside remixes and lesser-known cuts, offering a unique look at the rapper’s work.
Scram Jones, a long-time collaborator who worked with Eminem on tracks like “In Your Head” from “Revival” and contributed scratches on “Berzerk” and “Kamikaze”, was an Eminem fan long before their professional partnership. He recalls discovering the rapper’s early work on an unlabeled cassette back in college, describing the experience as an eye-opener. “I realized this guy really didn’t give a fuck”, Jones said, reflecting on Eminem’s bold, unconventional style.
Jones’s connection to Eminem’s music has been steady over the years, leading him to host a show on Eminem’s Shade 45 radio, where he’s known for his “scramble mixes”. This platform allowed him to curate some of the most distinctive rap collections, drawing on his deep respect for Eminem’s work.
For “Coup De Grace”, Jones took a focused approach, selecting and blending Eminem’s rhymes. “I’m all about creativity as a DJ, just like Em is as an MC. Not a lot of DJs these days think outside the box — it’s more of a hustle to them than an art form”, he explained. “Me and Em are from the same era, where you really had to prove yourself, and that’s what I tried to do here”.
Eminem boosted the mix by introducing it through his socials:
