Nearly two decades after its release, Eminem’s “Shake That” is making itself comfortable on the UK charts, and it’s not the only one of his hits on the rise.
Eminem dropped a new album last summer, but that has not stopped one of his older tracks from making a surprise return to the charts. “Shake That”, his 2006 collaboration with Nate Dogg.
Last week, “Shake That” appeared on the Official Singles Sales chart at No. 98, barely sneaking onto the tally. This week, it jumps 12 spots to No. 86, reaching a new peak. Over on the Official Singles Downloads chart, the track is also rising, moving up to No. 81. While it is not the first time the song has charted in the UK (it appeared on the Official Singles Downloads in 2006), its sudden resurgence nearly two decades after its release is definitely unexpected.
And “Shake That” is not the only Eminem song on the move. Two of his biggest classics, “Without Me” and “Lose Yourself”, are climbing the Official Hip Hop and R&B Singles chart, landing at Nos. 25 and 26, respectively. Both tracks jumped at least five places this week, hinting that Eminem’s catalogue is seeing a broader boost.
Originally released in 2006 as part of Curtain Call: The Hits, “Shake That” was one of fan favourites, featuring the late Nate Dogg’s signature smooth vocals. Though Nate Dogg is not officially credited to the UK charts, his contribution helped make the track stand out in Eminem’s discography.
With “Shake That” approaching its 20th anniversary, its unexpected chart comeback proves that Eminem’s music still has serious staying power. The question now is — how high can it climb this time?
