The Ryan Montgomery Foundation reflects Royce’s journey through trauma to healing through therapy and is aimed to support underprivileged communities and assist them with access to care.
In his official press release Royce emphasises that his foundation will pay a lot of attention to changing the attitude towards mental health care in the community:
As a person of color who has seen a therapist for many years now, I know how important it is to talk about your issues with an unbiased mental health care professional. My people often think seeking a therapist is taboo. It’s my mission to dispel that myth and give light to those who believe there is no way out of the darkness.
The aims of The Ryan Montgomery Foundation are “to empower underprivileged communities through advocacy, education and personal enrichment by implementing sustainable community programs that give individuals and families access to resources and opportunities needed to achieve their fullest potential”.
The Detroit rapper teamed up with National Alliance on Mental Illness Michigan and CNS Healthcare, a private non-profit human agency that provides a wide spectrum of community-based support services. Royce is going to unveil the full scale of the operations his Foundation is set up for during the series of public events such as a press conference on October 14, TV appearance on TV20 Detroit’s “Mind Matters with Dr. Michele” on October 10 and October 17.
