Royce da 5’9” Gets Emotional Over Never Seen Before Footage Of Proof

An old friend visited Royce in his studio and brought a treasure trove of archive footage of young Detroit rappers.

This old friend is a veteran of Detroit hip hop scene Juan who was also filming for his Dirty Glove Ent. company, preserving the legendary chapter of Detroit history. He spent 10 years being locked in and now he is visiting his old friends. Royce was one of these friends and he turned the personal session of nostalgia into something that will warm up the hearts of millions of rap fans.

In the video posted on his Instagram account Royce says:

So, my brother Juan, he just came home. We are in the studio, I’m happy to have him here. He’s gone for 10 years. Before he went in he had all these cameras and he was filming for this Dirty Glove Network, you’ve probably heard of it back in the day, he was way ahead of his time. Now he gets out and he brings all his cameras to the studio. So we were looking at some of the footage and it’s all an interview that me and Proof was doing, that nobody’s ever seen. It fucked me up. I dropped a tear. And I couldn’t even hear it. I’ma show you some of it. Just to see me and him sitting next to each other, doing an interview… And we’re actually talking about the way we squashed our beef. We were sitting, talking about it. That’s crazy, bruh. I haven’t heard brother speaking for so long! Just to hear how intelligent he was, it’s just crazy now. We can give them a kind of sneak peek.

And Royce showed a snippet of this interview through the eye of a camera’s viewfinder. As he promised, Proof and Royce were sitting side by side talking animatedly to an interviewer, so young, so full of life and energy.

Could y’all see that?! We’re gonna buy a cord tomorrow so we can hook up to the computer and just upload all footage to it. And show it to y’all. Y’all gonna love it.

It is going to be precious. Royce shares this memory out of generosity and also because he probably finds it important to show how people who can overcome their difference work together and find inspiration and strength in their abilities to connect.

We will be keeping an eye on Royce’s account for new developments. Meanwhile, watch the video below:
