This must be the first big interview of Read The PDF, a supergroup of three talented producers stepped out of their mixing boards to the mic.

10 days ago, Read The PDF dropped their first joint titled “BY”. showcasing their talents, skills, and a unique perspective on life and music that all of them have. They caught attention of fans and journalists alike, and here is what you can learn from their interview for The Hype Magazine.

First of all, the theory that PDF is the acronym of their names is confirmed by the artists — Porter, Dem Jointz, Focus….

Also, their paths has crossed because all three of them worked with Dr. Dre, and it was Dem Jointz and Focus… working on Eminem’s album, when they decided that they should start a group together and called Mr. Porter. Focus… explained:

I have always wanted to collab with Mr. Porter, and once I met Dem Jointz he quickly became one of my favorite producers. They are both apex sonically amd creatively. They both live and breathe outside of the box. I felt we had a synergy that would transcend into the music…

All of them are devoted to music from early age, and nothing else has ever been a viable option. For Mr. Porter it were also right people who intrduced him to the right type of music:

I grew up in Detroit, by way of North Carolina. I’d say my strongest influences were Dilla and Dr. Dre. I got introduced to Dre’s music through my older brother. One day he was playing N.W.A.’s “Fuck the Police,” and I just thought the beat was amazing. When he told me that the person who made the beat was rapping it caught my interest. My introduction to Dilla came when Proof played me a Slum Village demo, but wouldn’t give me a copy. I had to keep trying to remember the music in my head.

Each of these three artists has forged his name in the heat of the industry and has a lot to be proud about. But their reactions to the question “What has been y’all’s biggest career moment(s), at least thus far anyway?” they give different answers:

Mr. Porter: Performing at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for Eminem’s induction ceremony. That’s my home team and I was there from the beginning, so that was one of my biggest moments, period.

Dem Jointz: I’m a 3X Grammy winning, multi-platinum producer, but I still feel I’ve yet to achieve my biggest accomplishment.

Focus…: Working with Dre has been life changing…

There is more to read on the official magazine website and more to expect from Read The PDF, who are getting their album ready for release.
