In 2020 Eminem took the stage at the Oscars ceremony to finally perform “Lose Yourself” — the first-ever rap song to win an Oscar.
Even 17 years after the song received its recognition, it did not get any less powerful and it was evident in the reaction of the audience. The venue full of Hollywood stars was on fire, with legendary actors, directors and producers singing along and standing up to give Eminem an ovation.
One of the most memorable moments was the one when “From Dusk Till Dawn” star Salma Hayek fangirled all over Marshall backstage.
Another memorable event that day was Marshall’s candid reunion with Elton John
Argueably, it might be the mic-pack malfunction that Em took close to heart until he made himself rewatch the show and admit that it did not really spoil anything.
Soon after that performance “Lose Yourself” topped the US iTunes chart and its sales soared almost 2000%.
