Eminem’s name lands in the crossfire as Skepta keeps the UK vs US feud alive with his new diss track “Round 2”.
Skepta’s new track is aimed straight at Joyner Lucas. Following up on his earlier diss “Friendly Fire”, it continues the one-on-one skirmish between the UK and US rappers.
Over an accentuated grime beat, Skepta lays into Joyner with sharp lines about success, style, and authenticity. He mocks Joyner’s US chart performance, dismisses his battle with Tory Lanez, and even throws in a jab at the “Slim Shady karaoke” freestyle.
Eminem gets pulled in twice. First as a punchline, then as a measuring stick. Skepta raps: “Why would I wish I was you when you wanna be Eminem? Blud, you’re the Black Stan, You’re just a fan”, flipping Joyner’s admiration for Em into a diss.
Despite all the energy, this does not seem like a full-blown UK vs US showdown. A few smaller UK names have jumped in, but none of the big dogs Skepta tagged have responded. And that odd Eminem diss from a random TV host did not add any points to the UK side.
Still, Em’s presence looms large. Even when he is busy designing baby onesies and preparing for the theatrical release of “Stans”, he is still the benchmark in rap battles across continents.
