Having “Donda” landed atop the Billboard 200, Ye joins a very exclusive club of artists with ten consecutive Billboard No.1 albums. Until now, Eminem was his only member.
Last February, Marshall was granted a Guinness World Records title for Most consecutive No.1s on the US albums chart as the first artist ever to debut ten albums at the top one by one.
Overall, there are seven artists who count ten or more top-charting albums in their catalogue:
The Beatles (19)
Barbara Streisand (14)
Bruce Springsteen (14)
Elvis (10)
Eminem (10)
Jay-Z(14)
Kanye West (10)
However, the majority of the artists on the list have gaps in between their No.1 albums. When Drake joins this list next week with his new album “Certified Lover Boy”, he won’t be able to tie the achievement Eminem and Ye share because his last year project “Dark Lane Demo Tapes” did not rise to the top of the charts.
Interestingly, Kanye and Jay-Z both count the 2011’s “Watch The Throne” towards the total number of No.1 albums, as they released it under their names. Meanwhile, “Hell: The Sequel” is not included in Em’s count as they listed it under the band name Bad Meets Evil. Otherwise, Marshall would have bagged his Guinness entry earlier.
