Insane Clown Posse is a horrorcore rap group from Detroit that was beefing with Eminem in the mid-1990s. The beef is over, but a friendly battle on Verzuz is still on the cards.
Violent J, one of two current group members, visited the No Jumper podcast, and at some point, his conversation with the host shifted to discussing Verzuz. Adam asked Violent J about a hypothetical Verzuz battle, and when J’s memories about Esham the Unholy did not impress him enough, he upped the ante and suggested going against Eminem and D12. J was all over this idea:
Damn! I was gonna say that! Think about that for a minute! He’s coming with these hits that were monster hits. But we’re dropping undeniably dope shit that people have never heard. Because we would bring our best.
Adam tried to joke about flicking Bizarre on his belly on stage, and Violent J, while laughing, did not take the bait but shouted out to the D12’s showman:
That’s my boy, though! Shout out Bizarre, and shout out King Gordy too. Him and King Gordy do music together.
But fuck yeah, man! I was gonna say that. Who else do you want to go up against but the best?
The host tried to downplay the situation, implying that Eminem is so big that he would never agree and he doesn’t need to do anything now. But Violent J was not going to give up and throw a gauntlet:
How about this. We have no problem with Eminem. Everything is super cool, been super cool. But for the sake of freshness from Detroit, I officially challenge Eminem. Right now! No Jumper! Eminem, bring it! Let’s do a Verzuz battle! Megaton huge hits versus undeniable, underground, unheard but dope shit. Back and forth! Oh! That would be so dope. He can come any way he wants. That would be so dope. That would be awesome. That’s why I’m challenging him! Officially. Make that official. Eminem, man, bring it. Let’s battle for Detroit. Detroit vs Everybody first, us vs you. Let’s do it.
He goes another hopeful challenge that will never be answered.
