Fans are eager for Eminem’s long-awaited India debut, but a closer look at ticket sales raises some serious red flags.
Eminem fans in India were thrilled to hear (again) that the rap legend is finally bringing his live show to the country. A multi-city tour, a promise of a setlist packed with hits, and tickets already on sale — what is not to love?
But now, let us take a step back and look at the details.
The website selling tickets, livenationevent.com, raises some eyebrows. Until recently, it was completely empty except for a “Launching Soon” message, according to the Wayback Machine. It claims to be affiliated with influential and well-known entertainment company Live Nation and even mentions Lollapalooza Mumbai — an event officially listed on Live Nation Asia’s website. However, the two sites look different, making the connection questionable. Live Nation does not even use a separate website for India events.
Also, the tour schedule is questionable. The seven tour dates are spaced one week apart, as if Eminem would stay in India for nearly two months between Sunday shows. That is highly unusual for a global artist of his stature.
Moreover, despite showing seating plans for ticket purchases, the announced dates do not list any actual venues. Even more, the company address provided is just a co-working space in Bengaluru — not exactly the headquarters of an international entertainment powerhouse.
With so many uncertainties, fans should be cautious and wait for an official announcement from Eminem’s team before making any moves. Until then, this so-called tour looks more like another case of wishful thinking on behalf of the journalists who promoted it — or worse, a scam designed to sell tickets for concerts that may never happen.
