The first episode of Hailie’s podcast “Just a Little Shady” took her back to elementary school and spending time with her dad and having fun even when he couldn’t join her.
Hailie’s co-host for this episode was Brittany Ednie, a childhood friend she has known since second grade. Two girls basically grew up together and spent a lot of time travelling, following Marshall. It is well-known that Em was reluctant to leave Detroit, where his children were growing up. But when he had to, he, apparently, tried to take them with him. And understanding that it can be lonely for a child on her father’s business trips, he was taking care of organising their time and company.
That’s why Brittany used to travel with Hailie, and her parents were not worried at all, she explains, because they knew she was in safe hands. That’s precisely how two girls went to Walt Disney World, Hailie remembers:
That was so fun! I always think about that time. We went to Florida [because] my dad was working on something. He was working the whole time, but he set up for us to do the limo and take it to Disney, and we did the princess tea party, and he had the dresses waiting for us. We were both Belle or whatever. At the time, we were so happy and so excited, but we didn’t get to appreciate that moment as much as now when we talk about it and think back.
Not all their outings were so princess-like. Em’s daughter and her friend had spent plenty of time at Little Caesars Arena. Hailie reminded Brittany about that and got e response that revealed that Marshall was the reason behind this pastime:
— Do you remember when we used to go to The Pistons games all the time?
— Yes! We loved The Pistons. I feel like your dad loveв The Pistons games, and that’s why we were there.
