The Aftermath wizard agrees with T-Pain emotional outburst about hip hop artists reproducing the same limited numbers of successful patterns instead of making something new.
The Internet was taken aback by the video where T-Pain was audibly screaming that everybody in the industry makes the same music:
Stop doing that! Do something else, you’re not original! Give me some original shit! Just fucking do something else! God damn it! Do some different music! We have all the shit you’re doing. Lil Uzi Vert is already doing it. Lil Baby is already doing it. DaBaby is already doing it. It’s two niggas with Baby in their names that’s already doing all the music you want! Do something else! That’s it!
You might not like auto-tune T-Pain popularised in the genre, but he has certainly gained credibility with his two Grammy awards, multiple Hot 100 entries and a 6xPlatinum single with Flo-Rida. And with how this auto-tune took off.
So if you felt like T-Pain said something you had been thinking for ages, it’s not just you. Dr. Dre had the same feelings. He even took time to repost the video on his Instagram account with a comment:
Shoutout to @tpain!! I’m here laughing my fuckin ass off, but he’s right. I know and feel exactly what you’re saying.
A nice remark. Wouldn’t it be even better if the Good Doctor dropped a new album to show how he can stay original and authentic throughout the years of his career?
