LL Cool J reveals behind-the-scenes mechanics for recording his upcoming album.
The rap veteran is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated album, “The FORCE”, and in a recent interview, he discussed the star-studded lineup for the album, which includes heavyweights like Eminem, Nas, Snoop Dogg, and Busta Rhymes:
From Nas to Eminem to Basta Rhymes to Fat Joe and Rick Ross. Snoop’s on there. And you have some new artists as well, like Mad Squablz, Don Pablito, J-S.A.N.D. These are new artists we introduce to the world. They are unknown, but they did an amazing job. And then you have Q-Tip as this throughline, helping me create all this music. Q-Tip from The Tribe Called Quest. Feels right.
But what is interesting is that LL Cool J apparently went old school and brought his collaborators to the studio with him. No more sending verses; they had to be here and there to let the energy flow and feel the force. LL said that even Eminem came out of his cave for this occasion:
Em is a great friend. We worked together in the studio on this song “Murdergram Deux”, and it’s amazing. I love him as an artist. I had a lot of fun working with all of the artists. Snoop in the studio, Em in the studio. It was just a good energy. And I’m having fun too. I ain’t taking it that serious. I’m having a ball with it.
Fans had a chance to hear a leaked version of “Murdergram Deux”, but LL Cool J, while confirming the track’s authenticity, reminded the audience that it was not a finished work and did not give the right impression.
So, brace yourself and wait until September 6, when “The FORCE” will be unleashed on the planet.
