Eminem was crowned Favourite Male Hip Hop Artist at the 2025 American Music Awards — and in classic Slim Shady fashion, he accepted it from a distance.
In a video recorded in Detroit, he joked:
Favourite Male Hip Hop Artist?! Thank you, I appreciate that. I think it’s been 23 years since I won my first AMA. And I’m 24 years old. That’s crazy. Seriously, thank you to the fans. Thank you to everybody who voted for me. I appreciate y’all. Thank you so much.
Technically, it has been 22 years since his first win. Em got his first AMA nominations back in 2001, but it was not until 2003 that he swept the show with four wins: Favourite Hip Hop/R&B Male Artist, Favourite Pop/Rock Male Artist, and both genre album categories for “The Eminem Show”.
This year, “The Death of Slim Shady” also won Best Hip Hop Album.
Once again, the fans made their voices heard — and Eminem secured the Favourite Male Hip Hop Artist award for the fifth time, after previous wins in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2010.
