Rihanna’s piano-led sequel with Eminem has crossed 300 million streams, making it her 7th most-played non-single, 48th overall. For Eminem, it marks his 41st track of all credits to reach the milestone.
The sequel was born after the massive success of the original “Love The Way You Lie”, featured on Eminem’s “Recovery”. This time around, Rihanna took the lead, telling the story from a female perspective. Initially, she wasn’t sure about revisiting the concept. “I just felt like you couldn’t beat the original”, she told MTV at the time. But once she heard Skylar Grey’s haunting demo, she was convinced. With added drums, layered vocals, and Eminem’s verses, “Love The Way You Lie (Part II)” became a powerful companion piece to one of 2010’s biggest hits.
Critics liked it, and fans, clearly, keep listening to it still.
