The NFL Draft kicked off with a bang in Detroit, and Eminem was right in the thick of it.
The cold open featured a playful exchange between Eminem and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Em playfully ribbed Goodell, knowing he would face some boos from the Detroit crowd.
As the pre-recorded segment ended, the real Slim Shady himself walked onto the stage with his iconic track “Not Afraid” blasting in the background. The crowd erupted in cheers, welcoming their hometown hero.
Goodell, trying to be heard over the fans’ roar, promised a surprise announcement from Eminem. While Marshall kept the news under wraps (a pre-recorded video later revealed a new album!), his focus remained clear: the Detroit Lions.
His short speech was a passionate rallying cry for his beloved team:
Detroit!!! Whaddup? It’s here. Make some noise for the Detroit Lions. Let’s go!
He pounded his chest, the ultimate Lions fan, before stepping aside and letting the current and former Lions legends like Hutchinson, Sanders, and Johnson take centre stage.
This wasn’t about Em’s music tonight for him, it was about rallying the city behind their beloved Detroit Lions!
