This anniversary is important not only for Marshall but for thousands of people who find strength and inspiration in his journey for their own fight.

The last time Eminem shared his sobriety coin chip with his followers was three years ago, on his 12th anniversary. Since then Em’s online presence got reduced to flickering promo appearances. But this day is still a reason for celebration.

Marshall is one of those who went down the slippery slope of substance abuse and addiction almost to the very end. He looked at the other side and came back to take back control over his life, to take care of his family. Not only he achieved success, but he also shared his story through his music.

Marshall titled the whole comeback album “Recovery” as if echoing the statement embossed on AA sobriety coins. He filled the album with emotions, confessions, and affirmations of hope. Marshall’s AA mentor is Elton John. And yet Eminem himself has become an unofficial mentor for many. The one who turned his life around and has a story to tell that will help another person start their way to recovery.

So, congratulations on 15 years of sobriety, Marshall. Respect.
