Eminem Released “Recovery” 11 Years Ago Today

It is a new milestone for Eminem’s third most commercially successful album.

“Recovery” is also the third most successful album from 2010 and the best selling rap album of the 2010s decade.

Chartmasters.org provides these numbers by using the Commensurate Sales to Popularity Concept. CSPC is their methodology that takes into account sales information for all artist’s albums, physical and download singles, as well as audio and video streaming to determine their true popularity. One of the advantages of this methodology is how well it reflects career longevity, responding to spikes of popularity on streaming services even for items from a back catalogue.

“Recovery” is a good example of this, as it shows how popular the album is in the long run comparing, let say, to “Encore”, which performed 25% better in original album format. The “Recovery” physical sales are lower, but digital singles sales are way higher and steadily grow.
