Kid Capri, a Grammy award-winning DJ and Producer, is renowned worldwide as a trailblazer, innovator, and pioneer of DJ Culture. Throughout his career, he has produced tracks for esteemed artists such as Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Madonna, Heavy D, and 50 Cent, among others.
When asked about his Top 5 rappers, Kid Capri declined to provide a definitive list, explaining that selecting the greatest artist ever lacks a specific criteria and is more subjective, based on personal resonance on any given day.
However, this question during an interview on Audacy’s Hip-Hop Made podcast prompted Kid Capri to reflect on Eminem and the ongoing resistance that Marshall Mathers faces from certain individuals. Kid Capri responded with an explanation:
Everybody goes by the popularity of the person instead of the real skill set. They keep going at Eminem because he’s white. You’re mad because he’s doing Black stuff better than you are. The boy is nice, you can’t take that from him. Wisely use his name in your mouth every time. That boy is nice. You can not fuck with him on that tage at all. Leave him alone!
It may appear harsh, but Kid Capri is not the only one who holds this viewpoint. 50 Cent shares the same opinion, and many of Eminem’s detractors would find it challenging to argue otherwise. Benzino, Melle Mel, Nick Cannon — all of them attribute Eminem’s success solely to his skin color. Their discontent primarily stems from his race, as they refuse to acknowledge or discuss his skills and talent.
