When Apple Music launched in 2015, its first-ever interview was with Eminem: a fitting start for a platform built around music culture.

In June 2015, Apple launched its streaming service with Beats 1 Radio (now Apple Music 1), and for the big debut, they turned to someone who had shaped music for over a decade. Zane Lowe sat down with Eminem for an interview that covered everything from 8 Mile to the soundtrack for Southpaw, a film that Shady was originally supposed to star in, before passing the role to Jake Gyllenhaal.

It was a fitting way to open a service focused on artist voices. And Eminem did an excellent job not just talking about hits, but also discussing the craft, the grind, and what drives him to keep creating.

A decade later, Apple Music is home to millions of tracks, interviews, and exclusive content — but it all started with Slim Shady.
